As if raising an abandoned kitten or puppy wasn’t difficult enough, a man decided to rescue and hatch a tiny parakeet egg and then take care of the little one coming out of it, boredpanda reports.
A video recently posted by the YouTube channel A Chick Called Albert documents the touching journey of a tiny parakeet egg found laying abandoned in a pet shop into a full-fledged little bird. Here’s what actually happened.
A man visited a pet shop and while looking around he noticed an abandoned little egg in a cage

It turned out the mother had just been sold and there was only a male bird left in the cage

At that point, the man decided to take the matter into his own hands and try to save that lonely-looking egg

The shop owner agreed to give him the egg, which he then put inside a matchbox and took home

“Would I be able to bring it to life?” he wondered

When arriving home, he put the egg inside an incubator, hoping for the best

Bingo! After a few days of incubating the egg, he was already able to see a beating heart inside it

Then the little one started growing fast but the egg had to be rotated three times a day so that it wouldn’t stick to the shell

On the 19th day after taking the egg from the pet shop, the bird finally started hatching

So far, so good. But that was just the start. The bird was incredibly small and incredibly fragile.

The man studied everything about how to feed the little parrot and realized that it could be done, but it wouldn’t be easy…
